Sonoma valley
Sonoma Valley, often called the Valley of the Moon, is an exceptional part of the Wine Country. Its rural landscape is home to grapevines, family farms, and animals, as well as the landmark town of Sonoma itself. From May through Summer, there is a local farmers’ market on Tuesdays at The Plaza. You have a choice of locally grown or made fruits, veggies, eggs, flowers, plus crafts, specialty foods, and a live band. Parks abound for strolling or hiking, there are clever and stylish gift shops, “sensible” shopping for daily needs and household items, and several grocery store options.
If children will be visiting, there are great things to do with them in the area. TrainTown, with its train ride, miniature town, and petting zoo, Sonoma Family Fun Center, Maxwell Regional Park, and Mary’s Garden and the Children’s Museum of Sonoma in Santa Rosa. There are fascinating historic places for all ages like Jack London’s and General Vallejo’s homes, the Mission at the Sonoma State History Park near the Plaza, and even the beautiful Temelec Hall. It was built in 1858 by a great uncle of Daniel Boone, restored by the Coblentz family in 1915, who sold it in 1961 to the developers of the Temelec retirement community. The family required that it remain as a community centerpiece. As the HOA Clubhouse, it is to be enjoyed by those in the HOA. Your home in Temelec also has the benefit of being close to Petaluma, Napa, Marin, and only about one hour to San Francisco. Living in Temelec doesn’t take you out of life; it puts you right in the middle of it.
